Educational - Fun - Learning Experience - Something Different!

As an educator who deals with children on a daily basis, finding new, innovative ways to teach youth can be challenging. No need to look any further. Welcome to Sandy Pine Elk Farm!

The Henrekin family would like to invite you and your group to our farm for a day of fun and learning. We offer guided wagon tours of our elk farm where your class will have the opportunity to see over 40 head of elk, from the fuzzy, spotted newborns to some of the top ranked bulls in the world. During the tour, our family will teach the children about the elks' lives and about how products derived from elk are used for medicines, food, furnishing and many other products. Children are encouraged to ask questions and take part in the discussion.

During the months of August, September and October, Sandy Pine also has a 7.5 acre corn maze and unique pumpkin patch, along with our on-going venues. Our Gift Store offers a variety of gifts and treats for the young and old alike ranging in price from $.50 - $20.00.

Programs

We offer a nice selection of programs which allow you to tailor your visit to fit your needs. Programs range from $4-$6 per child. Please call for more information. Chaperones, (up to 2 adults per class), are free. All other adults pay the same as the children.

Tours

Tour A:
$4.00 - University of Illinois Extension Ag program; this includes choice of 3 programs including the corn maze. Recommended grades 3rd - 6th. Limited days only. Call for more details.
Tour B:
$5.00 - Includes Guided Elk Tour and Wagon Ride, Water Duck races
Tour C:
$6.00 - Includes Guided Elk Tour, Map directed Corn Maze, Water Duck races

Tours include access to our picnic area, Straw Mountain, soybean maze, tire climb, play area, sandbox and tetherball. All kids receive a take home treat from the farm. Add $1 to any package to take home a pie pumpkin.

Location: We are located just off Hwy 40 - 9 miles south of Rock Falls and 4 miles east of Tampico. We can be reached by either I-88 or I-80.
